The Interment Association of California
2004 Spring Conference
Newport Beach - March 24-26, 2004

California Dreamin’... was an entirely new and upbeat program for IAC’s Spring Conference. The Southern Region Program Committee, Chaired by Daniel Villa, Inglewood Park Cemetery, put together an exceptionally educational, informative, and fun agenda!

The elegant Four Seasons Hotel in scenic Newport Beach was the perfect location for our California Dreamin’.  It's as close to upscale shopping and restaurants as you can get – right across the street is the extraordinary Fashion Island.  Newport Beach offers miles of beaches that are considered among the most scenic on the West Coast.

On Wednesday, IAC Golfers enjoyed Pelican Hill Golf Club, one of Southern California’s premiere golfing destinations, nestled majestically above the Pacific Ocean.

Thursday’s education offered lots of information and participation, including a panel discussing  "Why Mausoleums? An Affordable and Profitable Alternative!" with several vendor members.  Charlene Baillie, Esq., an attorney specializing in workers’ compensation law gave us great information in a presentation entitled "Employer’s Survival Techniques for Today’s Workers’ Comp." Glenn Toothman described to us how and why he started Memory Medallion, Inc., and Dr. David Sloane, USC Professor of Policy, Planning and Development and author of The Last Great Necessity; Cemeteries in American History, shared with us information he gathered while researching and writing the book.

Thursday evening we were treated by a poolside reception followed by a delicious dinner and special California Dreamin’ entertainment by the "Beach Toys!".
