The Cemetery & Mortuary Association of California
2003 Fall Conference - San Jose

The CMAC 2003 Fall Conference was held in the heart of the Silicon Valley San Jose.  Known for arts and culture as well as a rapidly growing center for technology, San Jose is now the eleventh largest city in the U.S.

The golf committee selected Coyote Creek Golf Club as the location for CMAC’s JACK WEST MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT.  Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the Coyote Creek Tournament Course has been sculpted from the lower slopes of the Diablo Range, offering our golfers constantly changing views.

To begin our conference, Joseph Stinson, Nationally Certified Grief Counselor, discussed the changing image of cemeteries. Then Dennis Madison, Environmental Engineer for Forest Lawn revealed the top five components for OSHA safety compliance.

We listened to Stanley Saitowitz, Design Principal of Natoma Architects, Inc., San Francisco, as he presented the New England Holocaust Memorial, a competition-winning memorial in Boston. Attorney Brian Kindsvater reviewed arbitration as a way to resolve sales contract problems and employment agreement issues.

We also explored the innovations in irrigation technology that can simplify our work while conserving our resources, and we concluded our presentations with a visionary look at the promises of technology in the future.
